Joseph Glen Blanch

I was born June 4, 1897, in West Weber, Weber County, Utah, a son of Joseph and Laura May Etherington Blanch. My early life was spent in assisting on the farm, as was the custom of that period of time. I was baptized, September 31, 1905 by George A Heslop and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by George F. Hunter.

I was a member of the Deacon, Teacher, and Priest Quorums and also was an Elder and have been a High Priest for over 50 years, and was ordained by Reed Smoot, May 31, 1925.

My church assignments have been, a call to the mission field from September 1919 to February 1922 in the Central States Mission, and I have served as a High Councilman in the North Weber Stake. A Sunday School President in the Ogden 13th Ward, Ogden Stake, also in the Mutual Presidency of the Ogden 13th Ward and served as second councilor in the Bishopric of the Ogden 30th Ward in the East Ogden Stake. I have served as Group Leader of the High Priest Group and a member of the presidency two different times. I served as an assistant ward clerk and have been a home teacher for 50 years.

On September 22, 1922, I was married to Laura E. Middleton in the Salt Lake Temple. We have one son, Garth M. Blanch who is a dentist in Ogden.

August 31, 1918, I was inducted into the United States Army and was sent to Camp Kearney, California and released February 17, 1919, at the Presido in San Francisco, California .

I went to work for the Pillsbury Mills at Ogden in 1930, and was manager of the Quality Control, for 28 years. I spent 32 years with the company, retiring in 1962,

We built our home where we are now living at 1368 24th Street and have lived here for 46 years.
