Robert McFarland

Bishop 1892-1909

Robert McFarland was born September 11, 1844, in Scotland. He was the son of William McFarland and Margaret McCormick. He emigrated to Utah with his parents, arriving in the valley on September 25, 1855. The family lived in American Fork for a few years before settling in West Weber.

He was married to Mahale Wilson and they became the parents of eight children. After her death he married Josephine Madson and nine more children blessed his home.

After he was married he went on a mission to Scotland, the same time David 0. McKay's father was there.

He was serving as a counselor to Bishop Ballantyne when called to become Bishop in 1892. His counselors were: Wheatly Gibson, George F. Hunter, James B. Ririe, William Jardine and Nathan A. Hawkes. He was released on March 14, 1909.

He spent his entire life as a farmer. He served in the Utah Legislature.

He died in 1931, after he had reached the age of 87 years.
