George Pierce Billings

George Pierce Billings was born in Manti, Utah, 4 Dec. 1854, the son of Alfred Nelson Billings and Deborah Patton Billings. The family lived in Manti until about 1860 when they moved to Provo, Utah. George was married to Lydia Ann Young 27 Dec. 1878. They became the parents of seven children.

George P. Billings moved to Jensen, Utah in the fall of 1884. The following spring he was joined by his wife and 3 small children. He was a merchant. He was made Presiding Elder in Riverdale Ward in 1891. In 1894 he was made Bishop of the Jensen Ward and served in that capacity for 14 years. In 1908 the family moved back to Provo, where they resided the rest of their lives. He married Mary Edwards Farnsworth as a plural wife (no date). They were married for time only and no children were born of this marriage. George died in Provo 10 Apr. 1931.
