Clara Jensen

Story of Clara Jensen, told to Martha Dalley by Matilda Horsley

Clara Jensen, daughter of Neils Jensen and Johanna Sandherg Jensen was born in Logan, Utah August 1, 1875. When three years old they moved to Trenton, Utah. When she was two years old she fell out of bed and broke her collarbone. Two weeks later she came down with Scarlet Fever and was terribly sick. Everyone thought she would die. The Dr. said there would be a change at 2:OO P.M. either for the better or the worse. Oh how her mother cried all day. At four she opened her eyes looked around, then closed them and went to sleep and when she woke up again she was better.

Her brother, Lewis, died six weeks later. At that time she got appendicitis. The nurse said she would die and went home. Some friends came about 9:00 P.M. and her father said let us pray. All the family knelt in a circle and prayed to the Heavenly Father to spare her life. When he said Amen she rose up in bed and said, I am well, I am well. Isn't that a testimony. She was the life and sunshine of her home. Always smiling and happy. She had three brothers, Neils Fritchef, Lewis, Alfred and five sisters, Emma, Ella, Mary, Matilda and Olena.

She lived in Trenton, Utah until she was married to Joseph A. Fife October 21, 1896. She raised a family of eight children, four boys and four girls. She was a wonderful housekeeper and mother. She did a great deal of good on earth, and was loved by everyone.

In the latter part of her life she was sick and was taken to Logan on November 21 and operated on. She died January 10, 1921 of blood poisoning. She left her husband and eight children.
