Alice Owens was born at Marianashire, North Wales. She was the daughter of William and Eleanor Evans Owens. Whe was baptized on November 30, 1848 by David Eames at Fistinog, Wales.

She came to America with her parents in 1849. While sailing up the Mississippi River from New Orleans, she was stricken with cholera and died and was buried on the banks of the river on May 8, 1849.
