C. Glade Johnson, 64, passed away Monday January 21, 2002, at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, of a heart attack.

Glade was born July 20, 1937, in Orem, Utah, to Harold C. and Eva York Johnson. His family moved from Utah to Jerome, where he attended elementary through high school. Glade was a star football player holding several records. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving three years. During this time he played on the U.S. Air Force Far East football team that took the championship for two years. He also played in the first exhibition football game for the Chinese royalty in Hong Kong. After returning from the service he married Ollie Jean Fife of Jerome. Their marriage was solemnized October 17, 1958, in the Logan LDS Temple. Glade's father owned and operated his own trucking business. Glade rode with his dad in the trucks from the time he was a very small boy. Is it any wonder he grew up with a love for trucking?! He worked as a long line driver for Garrett/ANR Freightlines out of Pocatello for 23 years. He transferred to Salt Lake City in 1982 and worked until their closure. He worked for Garrett for 30 years, logging in over four million accident-free miles. Glade was known as a hard worker and took great pride in doing a good job. He loved to work and in all those years he was never late to work!

Glade was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings, currently a counselor in the Presidency of the branch at Bridgeview Nursing Home, and also a High Priest in the Twin Falls LDS 1st Ward.

Glade and Ollie lived in Pocatello, Idaho; Riverdale, Utah; and Henderson, Nevada, returning to Twin Falls, Idaho one year ago this month. Glade was fun-loving and loved to be with his loved ones and friends. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Ollie, and two sons, Mark D. (Gina) Johnson of Pioneer, California, and Steven G. (Susan) Johnson of Ogden, Utah, and one daughter, Lynette (Justin) Carpenter of Henderson, Nevada. Eight granddaughters; one grandson; one sister, Ann (Gary) Tomlinson, Lakewood, Washington; one brother, Byron (Kay) Johnson, Manteca, California; and many nieces and nephews also survive him. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2002, at 1 p.m., in the Twin Falls LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 847 Eastland Dr. North, Twin Falls, Idaho. A visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2002, at Farnsworth Mortuary Chapel, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, from 6-8 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
