The Pioneer period of Utah history is from 24 July 1847, when the first immigrant settlers entered this deseret area, until 10 May 1869 when the railroad from the east and west met at Promontory, Utah. During those 22 years, nearly 100,000 pioneers traveled to this valley by foot, handcart, or ox drawn wagon. They came from all parts of the world. The following list comprises family members who came to the Utah Territory/State of Deseret; died crossing the plains; or was born in the Utah Territory/State of Deseret between 1847 and 1869.
