Edith Mae Field Bingham

Edith Mae Field Bingham, daughter of Charles and Nellie Field, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, returned to our Heavenly Father and her Eternal Companion, Monday April 12, 2004 in the home of her daughter Carol, surrounded by family.

Edith was born on April 13, 1908 in Ogden, Utah. She was raised and educated in Ogden. She was sealed to Howard Wilson Bingham on July 14, 1926 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived their lives in Ogden, Garland, and Logan, Utah. Howard returned to our Father in Heaven July 14, 1989. Edith will always be remembered for her many talents. She delighted in making and sharing Afghans, quilts, baby clothing, and other handicrafts with her children and grandchildren. Edith could hold old and young spellbound with her storytelling. She played the piano for many organizations. She loved to play games and was the champion of many. She had a great love for the gospel in her life where she served as a teacher in Mutual, Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She was in the ward Relief Society presidency and the Stake Relief Society Board. She served as a faithful visiting teacher for 73 years. She taught genealogy and was also on the Genealogical Board.

Edith and Howard sent six of their children on missions. They also served the Lord as full time missionaries in the New Mexico Arizona Mission and the North Carolina Columbia Mission. Edith served as a temple officiator for 21 years in the Logan LDS Temple. In their 63 years of marriage Edith and Howard were blessed with 13 children, nine daughters and four sons, Kenneth - deceased (Wanda) Bingham of Canada; Beverley (Glenn) Barfus of Utah; Harold Bingham of Utah; Carol (Vern) Jorgensen of California; Doris (Eldon) Fuller of Utah; Helen - deceased (Tom) Leishman of Utah; Lewis (Koleen) Bingham of Utah; Gordon (Judith) Bingham of Utah; Joyce (Lewis) McCombs of Utah; Maralyn (Larry) Stewart of Utah; Viola (Michael) Walter of Kansas; Loretta (Garth) Parker of California and Noreen (Warren) Udy, Nevada. Edith leaves a posterity of 73 grandchildren, 153 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Leslie Eugene Field and Clyde Winslow Field; two sisters, Greta Vera Field and Alta Lucile Field Paul; one son, Kenneth Howard Bingham; and one daughter, Helen Bingham Leishman.

Many lives have been touched by her kindness, generosity, service and love for the Lord. Her example is a legacy to all of her posterity.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the Tremonton 3rd Ward Chapel, 9590 N. 6800 W., Tremonton. Friends and family may call Friday, April 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N., Logan and on Saturday at the church prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Garland City Cemetery.
