Harold Johnson

JEROME - Harold C. Johnson, 71, died Sunday at St. Benedict's Hospital following a lingering illness.

He was born Nov. 6, 1899, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and married Eva York on Nov. 16, 1917, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

The couple lived near Pleasant Grove and Orem, Utah, until moving to Jerome in 1943.

Mr. Johnson did contract hauling in Magic Valley for many years.

He was a member of the LDS Church, and was on the church high priest quorum. He had taught Sunday School and MIA, had served two stake missions and had held several other church offices.

Survivors include his wife, Jerome; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Bernice) Kirkwood, Provo, Utah; Mrs. Robert (LaRue) Walker, Sunnyvale, Calif., and Mrs. Gary (Annabeth) Tomlinson, Honolulu, Hawaii; four sons, Earl H. Johnson, and Byron A. Johnson, both Orem; Leo Y. Johnson, Bountiful, Utah, and C. Glade Johnson, Pocatello; two brothers, Francis A. Johnson, in California, and Cyril G. Johnson, American Fork, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa J. Baxter, Orem, and Mrs. Hazel Bullock, Salt Lake City; 26 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Jerome LDS First Ward Chapel by Bishop Neal Perkins. Final rites will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hove Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon and evening and until noon on Wednesday.
