Douglas Joseph Fife

 BRIGHAM CITY - Douglas Fife, Prominent Contractor and Businessman of Northern Utah, passed away at Napa, Calif. on June 5, 1944.A son of Joseph Adam and Clara Jensen Fife. He was born at Riverdale, Utah on March 31, 1910.He married Geneva Hillman on Feb. 28, 1939 at Redwood City, Calif. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple.Douglas worked for construction companies throughout the Western U.S. prior to completing a major portion of the Alean Highway. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific during WWII. In 1946, Doug and Geneva started their construction business in Brigham City and Ogden. He was President and Chairman of the Board of the Fife Rock Products and Construction Co. Doug served as President of the Utah Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, where he was awarded the Eric W. Ryberg Award. He was National Associated General Contractors Highway Chairman and a National Lifetime Director. He served as President of the Utah Manufacturers Association and was a Director of the Utah Foundation.He was one of the founders of the Box Elder County Bank and became Chairman of the Board. He served as President of the Box Elder County School Board and was a member of the Brigham City Rotary Club.He was a High Priest in the Brigham City LDS 1st Ward. He served as president of the Lake Bonneville Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he was awarded the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards.He is survived by his wife, Geneva daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Paul H. Damon and grandson, Matthew H. Damon all of Brigham City. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Reed (Jean) Stockdaie of Franklin, Idaho and Mrs. Milton (Martha) Dalley of Blackfoot, Idaho.He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at me Brigham City 1st Ward, 236 E. 100 S. Friends may call at the 0lsen-Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
