Berniece Kirkwood

Berniece Johnson Kirkwood, age 70, died 0ct. 3, 1991, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, following a stroke. She was born on July 6, 1921 in Orem, a daughter of Harold Charles and Eva York Johnson. She married Clarence R. Kirkwood on Sept. 3, 1940, in Heber City. Their marriage was later solemized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

She received her education in the Lindon and Payson City schools and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. Following her marriage, she and her husband made their home in Provo. She worked for the school lunch program in the Grandview Elementary School.

She was a member of the LDS Church Provo Grandview First Ward. She served as a counselor in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women's Program and as secretary in the Relief Society. She had also served as ward librarian and was a visiting teacher. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, crafts and collected dolls.

She is survived by her husband, of Provo; two sons and one daughter: Alan Scott Kirkwood, of Olympia, Wash., Kevin C. Kirkwood, Caren Kirkwood Johnson, both of Orem; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Glade Johnson, of Riverdale; Byron Johnson, of Manteca, Calif.; Mrs. Robert (LaRue) Walker, of Longmont, Colo.; Mrs. Gary (Annabeth) Tomlinson, of Seattle. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Linda Kirkwood Davies.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Provo Grandview First Ward LDS chapel, 1550 N. 1350 West, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., or at the ward chapel on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
