Marintha E. Bingham Eccles McMudie

Death Takes Former S.L. Woman, 85

Mrs. Marintha E. Bingham Eccles McMurdie, 85, a former Salt Laker, died Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of causes incident to age.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,; Mrs. McMurdie served on three full-time missions with her first husband, Stewart Eccles.

She was born May 26, 1862 in Huntsville, a daughter of, Erastus and Susan Green Bingham. Her mother was the first white womon in the Ogden Valey.

Mr. and Mrs. Eccles resided in Eden after their marriage. After filling a mission in Scotland, they returned to the United States, settling in Ogden where they were active in missionary work. Later they moved back to Eden, where Mr. Eccles engaged in merchandising and ranching. In 1913 they went on a mlssion to England. Mr. Eccles was presidet of the London conference when he died Nov. 3, 1914, in London. Mrs. Eccles then made her home in Ogden for some time.

She was later married to Robert McMurdie, of BlackIoot, Ida. He dled several years ago.

Mrs. McMurdie was an active Temple worker for many years.

Survivors include a daughter and a son, Mrs. Christabella Johnson Kent, Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Stewart Eccles, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
