Carrie Rosella Compton Tribe

OGDEN - Carrie Rosella "Rose" Compton Tribe, age 98, died on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at Crestwood Care Center of causes incident to age.

She was born on April 16,1902 In Morgan, Utah, the daughter of George and Caroline Ager Compton. She grew up and was educated in Morgan. At the age of 17 she moved to Ogden and lived there for the rest of her life. She worked as a secretary for Boyles Furniture Company until her marriage. On June 17,1926 in Morgan, she married Dr. Leland Foulger Tribe, a dentist. He died on February 20,1985.

Rose was a an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a member of the Mount Ogden Ward for many years. She served In church callings as a Sunday School and a Primary teacher, second and first counselor in the ward Primary presidency, and second and first counselor in the stake Primary presidency. She was an active member of the Relief Society and served as second and first counselor in the ward Relief Society presidency. She was also a Relief Society visiting teacher for many years and served as a visiting teacher supervisor.

Rose spent two years in the presidency of the Second District Dental Society and one year as president. This was during the Second World War and the ladies of the dental auxiliary baked countless cookies for the U.S.O. which was held at the Union Depot. Rose also worked for the Red Cross for a while rolling bandages for the soldiers. She loved flowers and always had a beautiful yard. She was a kind and caring person.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Dr. Dale L. and Shirley Tribe, and Dr. A. Lee and Marilyn Tribe, all of Ogden; and one daughter and her husband, Carolyn and LaMar Skeen of Warren, Utah. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one sister, S. Leone Christensen.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, two grandsons, four brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Crestwood Care Center for the excellent care they took of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18th at 11 a.m. at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington

Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
